I live in the Boreal Forest, and wildfires terrify me. I have stayed at both the Maligne Lodge and the Jasper Park Lodge—this is heartbreaking. I truly feel for all those impacted by the wildfires in Alberta. I lost my home in 2019 due to unnatural weather.
Susan Riley cited John Vaillant's book, Fire Weather, which clearly outlines that we are in a fossil-fuelled crisis caused by decades of lies from the fossil fuel industry. What to do? Forgive yourself if you have been duped, then get angry. Demand that all politicians hold the fossil fuel industry accountable for what they have done to our world. If you live in a community that has been devastated by unusual weather patterns, consider suing.
