Environment Canada special air quality statement has been lifted
The drifting forest fire smoke has cleared away from the skies in Greater Sudbury, and Environment Canada’s special air quality statement has accordingly been lifted.
At times yesterday, the air quality in Greater Sudbury was rated at a 12. Anything more than a 10 is considered to be “very high risk.” However, with blue skies and sunshine, the current air quality is currently rated at a 1, or “low risk.” The forecast air quality is expected to be at a 6 Wednesday evening and a 5 on Thursday, or moderate risk.
Unfortunately for Southern Ontario, that part of the province is still being affected by forest fire smoke. Barrie, for example, is under an Environment Canada special air quality statement due to smoke plumes from forest fires over northeastern Ontario and Quebec. Barrie’s air quality is currently rated at a 5, or “moderate risk.”
