A veteran corrections officer said it was a \u0027foregone\u0027 conclusion that Shannon Sargent was being escorted to hospital to be triaged.
“Did you provide any specific direction with regards to the paperwork or Nurse Longmuir’s concerns about Ms. Sargent requiring an assessment at the hospital?” coroner co-counsel Kate Forget asked.
In his 36 years at the OCDC, Joncas said, he’s never known a hospital to turn away an inmate sent from the jail. Sargent died in her cell that night. She had been placed in the cell on her own and, despite her illness, was not on medical watch that would have meant more frequent checks by guards.Article content
