The Ontario plant will build EVs and batteries from 2025 in a new campus that will be renamed Oakville Electric Vehicle Complex.
Ford has announced a $1.3 billion investment into the Oakville Assembly Complex in Ontario to transform it into a Canadian hub of electric vehicle manufacturing.
The retooling and transformation of the site into a high-volume manufacturing hub for North American EVs will begin in the second quarter of 2024, with production of next-generation electric vehicles to start in 2025. Ford notes that it is the full-line automaker committed to producing passenger EVs in Canada for the North American market. We're not sure that's accurate since Stellantis also confirmed last year that"Canada and the Oakville complex will play a vital role in our Ford+ transformation. It will be a modern, super-efficient, vertically integrated site for battery and vehicle assembly.
