Ford recalls more than 500,000 Bronco Sports and Escapes over fire risk.
Ford is urging owners of 2020 to 2023 Bronco Sports and Escapes equipped with the company's 1.5-liter turbocharged EcoBoost three-cylinder engine to visit their local dealership as soon as possible to have their cars inspected for a potential cracked fuel injector. A cracked injector"could cause fuel and/or fuel vapor to accumulate near hot surfaces, resulting in a potential under hood fire," according to the automaker.
“Taking care of our customers who are affected by this potential issue is our utmost priority,” Global CX Products & Customer Relations Jim Azzouz said in a statement. “Once the repair is available, we will ask customers to schedule service with their preferred dealer. They can then take advantage of our complimentary pickup and delivery or a loaner to make sure the repair is completed at their earliest convenience.
Though Ford has not issued a park order for the affected vehicles, it is offering customers the option to arrange for pickup, repair, and delivery in lieu of having to drive the cars to dealerships themselves. The recall affects a total of 518,993 cars in the U.S., with a projected failure rate of 0.38 percent for 2020 model-year cars and 0.22 percent for 2021-2022 model-year cars. While that's certainly a low percentage, it's not zero. So if you own a Ford that you think might fall under this recall, head on over to
