The Ford government plans to table legislation to tackle encampments on Thursday but won't finish debating and passing it until well into the new year.

The legislation itself doesn’t look likely to be in place for months, with no plans to pass it into law before politicians take a two-month break from debate.The premier’s office confirmed Monday the proposed legislation is currently set to be tabled on Thursday, the day MPPs rise and return to their ridings for the holidays. That means it won’t be debated and passed into law until at least the new year.
“I just do not agree with those who believe that a park is a place where people with mental health and addictions are best served — a park is for kids,” Housing Minister Paul Calandra said.
