Maryland's March SNAP payments will conclude distribution in 10 days.

To qualify for the Old Line State’s SNAP payments, one’s gross income must be at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. For a single-person household, that is $18,954, while the maximum for a five-person household is $45,682.

Distribution of food stamps in the state started last week and will continue through March 23. The first three letters of a recipient’s last name determine the specific distribution date for each household.Single-person households can receive a maximum of $291, while an eight-person household can receive up to $1,751. Larger households can receive $219 for each additional person.

SNAP payments are loaded on an Independence Card, Maryland’s version of an electronic benefits transfer card. The funds can only be used on food and nonalcoholic beverages.
