ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Food First Newfoundland and Labrador is receiving $220,000 in provincial funding to help residents access healthier foods.
The non-profit organization is on a mission to make affordable, nutritious and culturally appropriate food more widely available across the province.'The healthiest food is what we grow ourselves': Community freezers, gardens, and greenhouses being used to combat food insecurity in NunatuKavutGovernment already provides the organization with a $105,000 annual grant that supports its community-level food security initiatives in schools, the retail sector and Indigenous communities.
