So far, three rounds of public comment have been received, the latest in January of this year.
Following that round, changes were made to the draft plan. Now, interested residents are being asked to review the changes and give comment.
Shelly Wade, Public Involvement Lead and Planner for the Fairbanks North Star Borough Comprehensive Roads Plan, explained, “It’s not like someone’s going to grab a shovel and do a road or start construction on a road tomorrow. Instead, this is really about future corridors that help facilitate a process when that subdivision process is triggered.
According to Wade, since the borough began seeking resident involvement in 2021, hundreds of comments have come in.After this round, new input will be considered and the plan reevaluated. Wade said the plan could be in front of the Borough Assembly for approval during the upcoming winter.
