An investigation into the allegations against the individual portraying NHLFlyers mascot Gritty determined that the actions in question did not constitute physical assault as alleged.

“An investigation of the incident was conducted by South Detective Division,” the Phildelphia police said. “That investigation, which has been completed and is no longer active, determined that the actions of the individual portraying the Flyers’ mascot did not constitute physical assault as alleged.”

In late January, Flyers season ticket holder Chris Greenwell alleged that his 13-year-old son had been punched by the mascot during a photoshoot in November.Greenwell said his son was diagnosed with a back bruise. “We took Mr. Greenwell’s allegations seriously and conducted a thorough investigation that found nothing to support this claim,” the Flyers said in a statement on Jan. 22.
