“The neighborhood was planning to fill the sandbags, but since we had 25 girls there already, we figured we’d just do it ourselves.”

On Monday, August 2, the 25-girl team made the most of a day off from school by getting in their miles and helping the community prepare for the storm. That morning, the women’s captains gathered everyone for long run followed by a pancake breakfast, then they led the team in a little extra: filling 50-pound sandbags to use to anchor doorways and help protect local homes and businesses from flooding.
