Elias Lindholm scored the go-ahead goal with 91 seconds remaining as the Calgary Flames, on the strength of a 35-save showing from their starting netminder, earned a 5-3 victory in Wednesday’s season-opener against the Winnipeg Jets at the Saddledome.

Among Markstrom’s best work, he snagged a shot from Nino Niederreiter, thwarted Connor on a point-blank opportunity from the slot and sprawled to deny Cole Perfetti in the final seconds of the middle stanza. The Flames will now depart on a five-game roadie, starting with Saturday’s clash against Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
