Calgary Flames legend Mike Vernon elected to Hockey Hall of Fame yyc

Born and raised in Calgary, Vernon backstopped the Flames to a Stanley Cup crown in 1989. He won a second title in 1997 with the Detroit Red Wings, claiming Conn Smythe Trophy honours as playoff MVP. Vernon capped his NHL career with 385 regular-season victories, which now ranks 16th on the all-time list.
