Flames’ Huberdeau on agent’s controversial tweet: ‘That doesn’t come from me’ yyc flames
That left many connecting the dots — if Walsh says that the Flames aren’t having a lick of fun, he must be echoing what he’s hearing from his client, right?Ah yes, Walsh isn’t exactly a Calder candidate in the most-controversial-tweet category.Huberdeau told reporters that he dialled his agent on Friday morning to discuss his social media sound-off, although he didn’t offer any specifics. It’s too bad that nobody was mic’d up for that chit-chat.
“It would’ve been one thing if Huberdeau tweeted something, but he hasn’t,” echoed Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom. “I’ve seen different tweets from this guy, not only what he did last night. I’ve seen other tweets coming from that account. The guys don’t really care. Huby is a great guy and I don’t think he stands behind it, either. It’s very irrelevant.”And Sutter, for his part, was none too fussed about what anybody had opined on Twitter.
The question that Walsh raised wasn’t so much about whether it’s a tight-knit team — to a man, the skaters were eager to insist Friday that they’re all buddy-buddy — but more about the relationship between the notoriously hard-nosed Sutter and the guys who play for him. The last thing the Flames need is a feud between the bench boss and his top talent, especially since both have already inked contract extensions.
