The indictment, with allegations that have not been proven in court, is related to a fatal crash after an 18-year-old driver left a party at Sumanth Rao’s Georgia home

Flair Airlines’ new chief financial officer faces charges including involuntary manslaughter related to a fatal alleged impaired driving crash that followed a party held by his teenage daughter at their home in Atlanta, Ga.

The indictment, which contains allegations that have not been proven in court, said the Raos condoned an “atmosphere that encouraged underage alcohol consumption” for 10 months preceding the fatal crash. Ms. Boston announced the charges at a press conference on Dec. 4, describing the Rao’s house as a frequent party spot where teens drank and disturbed the neighbours.

“This crash was a foreseeable consequence of allowing underage drinking in their home and worse – allowing someone who they knew had consumed alcohol to drive,” Ms. Boston said. “We recognize that prosecuting these cases will not bring Sophia back, but we hope that by pursing justice in her death, we may prevent future tragedies.”

Flair spokeswoman Kim Bowie said the airline has taken steps to ensure operations continue while assessing the situation.
