Police are searching for five suspects after a home invasion in Vaughan, Ontario, left one resident hospitalized with a gunshot wound. The suspects broke into the rear of the home and a struggle ensued, during which a handgun was discharged, injuring one victim. The suspects fled the scene in a dark-coloured SUV after dropping the weapon.

Police are searching for five suspects after an early morning home invasion in Vaughan sent one of the residents to hospital with a gunshot wound .

“When the residents were confronted, a struggle ensued and the gun was discharged,” police say in a news release issued Tuesday.Police say one victim was shot and taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, adding no other residents were injured. They did not say how many residents were at home at the time.

Investigators believe one of the suspects may have also been injured during the confrontation and are asking witnesses to come forward.
