“We did rescue three people off the roof in the initial stages of the fire,” Deputy Fire Chief Jim Jessop told CP24 at the scene, as firefighters continued to douse “hotspots.”“The women and men did a fantastic job of containing the fire, especially in these older buildings downtown,” Jessop said. He said five units were impacted by fire and water damage, and a number of residents have been “displaced.”
