Many state pensioners have a tougher winter ahead after losing their Winter Fuel Payment
Energy experts have identified five devices that pensioners should unplug and switch off at the mains to save money after losing their Winter Fuel Payment this November. Many state pensioners are bracing for a challenging winter after losing their £300 winter fuel payment and a £300 cost of living payment, coupled with rising energy bills just as the colder months approach.
Air conditioning can consume as much as 2Kwh per hour, which equates to two valuable units of electricity every hour. At approximately 26p a unit, you could save around £2.08 in four hours, reports the Express. So if you're not using it that often, it's cheaper not to leave it heating 24/7. Garden water features can also be pricey.
