Veterans Affairs and Associate Defence Minister Darren Fisher has appointed Shawn Lawlor as his chief of staff, marking Lawlor's first experience in the role. This follows a cabinet shuffle in December 2023. Several other staff members have been appointed or promoted, including Abigail Garwood, Ashton Ross, Michael Unsworth, Jared Valdes, Rachel Ohnona, and Yasmin Veiga.
Veterans Affairs and Associate Defence Minister Darren Fisher has tapped a first-time chief of staff, Shawn Lawlor, to run his first-ever ministerial office. He went on to work for Heritage Minister Pascale St-Onge as the MP for Brome-Missisquoi, Que., before landing a job as a Quebec regional affairs adviser to then-employment minister Randy Boissonnault in the fall of 2023. Westover was promoted to press secretary to the minister roughly a year later, just before Boissonnault resigned from cabinet—a role he kept after Petitpas Taylor took on added responsibility for the employment portfolio last November.
