Prices at the Pumps - March 20, 2024 #saltwire #energymarkets #pricesatthepumps #gaspricesDUNEDIN – It happened late in a game when mostly minor leaguers were in action, but 18-year-old Arjun Nimmala made his big league debut a memorable one this week.

On Wednesday, the team’s first-round draft pick from 2023 flashed the potential that made him so coveted by the Jays front office when he stepped to the plate with the Jays down to their final out in a game against the Atlanta Braves. What followed was a magical moment for the young prospect: A game-tying home run to left field giving Nimmala his first hit as a pro in his first game wearing the Jays uniform he hopes to have a productive career in.

Nimmala, wearing No. 94, had entered his first game with the team that has high hopes for him in the seventh inning as a defensive replacement for Isiah Kiner-Falefa getting his first defensive work in at shortstop. In his first at-bat, the 20th overall pick drew a walk. Nimmala made his pro debut last season getting five hits in 25 at-bats over nine games for the Jays Florida State League affiliate. The Jays went on to lose the game 10-9 at the Braves home in North Port, Fla., but it was a memorable day for the youngster who belted a line-drive homer he won’t soon forget.
