Since the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks, U.S. officials have been organizing charter flights to bring thousands of Americans trapped in Israel, home to the states.
Just days ago, Governor Ron DeSantis announced an executive order to authorize these rescue operations. The first mission from Israel arrived at Tampa International Airport around 8 P.M Sunday. U.S. officials said their first charter flight landed in Athens, Greece Sunday.

Video taken of those passengers getting off the plane in Tampa showed them carrying belongings like suitcases, backpacks and cameras, all being greeted by DeSantis and the first lady on the tarmac, shaking hands and giving hugs. According to the governor’s office, evacuees were able to access resources from multiple state agencies.The state of Florida stepped up and answered the call. We’re going to have more flights coming in.
