SOAR, a grassroots initiative supporting Indigenous entrepreneurs, has a new program designed to propel high-growth Indigenous businesses that amass more than $1 million in annual revenue to increase that figure fivefold over the next year.
Co-presented by financial services firm Square, venture capital company BDC and business non-profit Futurpreneur, the accelerator will provide 2.5 days of executive-level training, mentorship and buyer opportunities.
“If you live in a First Nations community in Canada, it’s very difficult for you to go to a bank and get a loan,” Tenasco said. “In the traditional sense, you’re considered high risk, because there’s no collateral on a reserve.”
