“I didn’t know that my mum had a choice to treat the cancer, and probably lose me, or have me and take her chances with the cancer.”
Reality TV star Paddy Smyth has opened up on losing his mum at just five-years-old and learning to love himself. He later went on to star in celebrity Pulling With My Parents and won popular TV show The Circle.
"I didn’t accept my disability fully, there was a sense that if I avoided the disability, it didn’t exist," he admitted. "I felt because I was so different I would maybe find my way within reality TV because I never felt I was clever within school. I just enjoyed looking at people on TV and I thought I’d be good at it!""When I won the circle I thought it would be my life sorted, I thought ‘This is going to be it’ and that people would love me. And it just wasn’t that, and that’s okay. I was looking for happiness on an external level rather than looking within.
