Having recently accepted the Comedy Person of the Year Award in Montreal, Schumer is headlining the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival Saturday night
Fifteen years later, Schumer is picking up the fest’s Comedy Person of the Year Award on Friday.
Proof of that will likely be evident when she brings her Whore Tour to Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier of Place des Arts, Saturday at 7 and 9:45 p.m. “My goal has never been to become the biggest movie star. I just want to make stuff I’m proud of, that can be funny and make people feel better.” Pause. “And, of course, I want to make money. I don’t want to make it sound like it’s all in the craft,” she quips.
“In this age of surveillance celebrities, there is something kind of powerful to me about being the one driving the ship with the most intimate, unattractive moments and just being human. I just felt that was an important thing to do. I’m really lucky that I have a partner who was equally open to sharing our very personal lives.”
“I love that show, and am lucky enough to be friends with Steve and Martin. I did one of Steve’s plays on Broadway. This role came up, and they emailed me. I went: ‘Of course.’ “
