A First Alert is in effect for our region on Wednesday as intense storms are expected to pass through in the afternoon.
The severe weather is expected to last through the evening hours as the main line of storms could arrive in Lehigh and Berks counties around 5 p.m. Wednesday.Closer to Philadelphia, the storms may start to pop up between 6 and 8 p.m. as New Jersey could start to see the first of the rain around 7p.m.Be prepared to possibly see damaging winds, hail, flooding and even some brief tornadoes could happen. Areas northwest of the city of Philadelphia will see the strongest of the storms.
Ahead of the storms, it's humid and very hot. Feels like temperatures could reach into the upper 90s as Philadelphia could hit 101 degrees. During all of this, a heat advisory will stay in effect until 9 p.m. as we're under a code orange for air quality until 11 p.m.Our Thursday is expected to start off with lots of clouds before the sun comes out to make for a pleasant evening.As of now, the weekend is forecasted to bring some scattered storms with rain, so check back with NBC10 as Saturday gets closer.
