Firefighters battled a two-alarm fire in Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon.
At around 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 19, FDNY units responded to a fire at 488 Crescent Street in East New York. Firefighters were met with heavy fire conditions on the first floor of a two-and-a-half-story wood-framed private residence.
Over a hundred firefighters operated four hose lines to knock down the main body of fire that extended to the second floor and attic. The fire was ultimately placed under control at 2:55 p.m.Witnesses stated officers from the 75th Precinct removed multiple residents from the building. One resident suffered smoke inhalation as a result of the fire, and she was taken by paramedics to a local hospital in stable condition.
Searches throughout the building yielded negative results.
