'He shouldn’t be trusted with running a fire and rescue service', a union spokesperson claimed
Northamptonshire's newly-appointed chief fire officer has been condemned by his former brigade for the "damaging and divisive culture" they claim he created during his tenure in the same role at Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service. Buckinghamshire firefighters have criticised Northamptonshire's decision to hire their former chief officer.

Adam Taylor, Fire Brigades Union regional secretary for the East Midlands region, added: "We are astounded by the decision taken by Northamptonshire’s Police Fire and Crime Commissioner to employ a new chief fire officer with a track record as Mark Jones has, leaving our members far and wide angered with this decision.
In response, Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Stephen Mold said Mr Jones was selected as part of an open recruitment process and these were "historic issues" for the Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service. “The current Chief Fire Officer Darren Dovey is retiring soon so it was important to recruit a new CFO who will be able to continue this positive improvement in the service while also steering cultural change.
