Fire victims invited to Potrero library today to talk about losses, access services [Breaking]
A Local Assistance Center will be staffed by county and state workers and the American Red Cross to help link residents with recovery programs and services between noon and 7 p.m., officials said.The fire burned nearly 4,500 acres and destroyed 19 homes, including RVs, after it ignited Aug. 31 off state Route 94 in the Barrett Junction area, east of Dulzura. The fire was fully contained Sept. 5.
More than 1,500 residents were ordered to evacuate their homes during the blaze. Hundreds of firefighters worked in blistering heat to put containment lines around the fire and at least eight suffered minor, heat-related injuries while two civilians suffered second- and third-degree burns.
