A vehicle was engulfed in flames along the shoulder of Highway 19 near Jingle Pot Road in Nanaimo Sunday afternoon.
One passerby who captured video of the fire around 1:30 p.m. said the highway was down to one lane southbound, which led to a traffic slowdown.
“You could feel the heat it was giving off as you drove by, even with the windows up,” the passerby told CHEK News. They said they spotted a fire truck heading up the highway in the opposite direction, “probably making a U-turn at the closest intersection.”Sign up for our newsletter to get breaking news and daily digests sent to your email.CHEK News has reached out to the Nanaimo Fire Department for more details.
