“Coming down Ryan Road, there was plenty of smoke showing. As we arrived, we upgraded it to a structure fire,” said deputy fire chief Jonathan Welsh.were paged to Charlie’s Auto Wash on the Old Island Highway, adjacent to Value Village, around 6 a.m. She and a friend had walked over to the Chevron gas station to get coin change for the outdoor vacuums, but when they returned, they noticed the right-hand corner of the car wash’s roof was “really red, and then, all of a sudden, sparks shooting out.”“I was looking at the top and was like, ‘Is that smoke? Doesn’t that look smokey on top?’ to my friend there,” she recalled.
“We’re going to get Hydro on scene, isolate the power and send crews in for further investigation and to extinguish any hot spots that are available,” he said later in the morning.
