No injuries have been reported; neighbours say the home has been vacant for some time
Shortly after 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Sault Fire crews responded to reports of a structural fire in the 200 block of East Balfour Street.
An eyewitness who lives several doors down from the affected residence says they were taking their dog outside when they noticed flames coming from the home. Smoke could be seen escaping the structure 20 minutes after the flames had been doused, and an unpleasant smell lingered in the air. The front end of the house appeared to endure significant damage, particularly around one of the main windows. No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
