UTSA quarterback Frank Harris has acknowledged that his name, image and likeness deal with the PM Group that’s worth “six figures” played a major part in his decision to return to the Roadrunners for one more season.The new rules helped the big boys, not that they needed it. Ever since TV cameras arrived at college football stadiums many decades ago, the richest programs in the country have attracted the best players, and that’s never going to change.
But the beauty of giving players options is that some of them can find enticing ones in unexpected places. And when one of the most experienced, accomplished winners in the sport stood in front of cameras this week and announced he’s coming back to UTSA?To be sure, Frank Harris never said money was his only reason for returning to the Roadrunners for a seventh season.
In terms of his football career, he might never be a hotter commodity than he is right now. He’s beloved in San Antonio, having starred in the area since his high school days at Clemens, and he means as much to the Roadrunners as any player does to a college team. Yes, the combination of NIL money and eased transfer restrictions have made a mess of the offseason, as evidenced by the 1,000-plus players reported to be in the transfer portal seeking new schools this week. Nobody loves that, but the solution is obvious:
