The Legislative Reapportionment Commission on Friday adopted its final maps.
The Capital Region could be home to more competitive races for seats in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives under the map adopted by the Legislative Reapportionment Commission on Friday.
But the second Harrisburg district, adding in Steelton and Swatara Townships among other areas, also shows a 32.6 percentage point Democratic lean based on election results in presidential, gubernatorial and U.S. Senate elections dating back to 2016. This 104th District would be an open seat race in 2022.
Most of the other seats in the greater Harrisburg area size up as solidly Republican, as they have been for the last few decades. Currently represented by Sen. John DiSanto, a Republican, it’s being changed by losing largely rural upper Dauphin County and Perry County, both of which have been transferred into a new Cumberland County-based district, the 34th.Sen. Mike Regan, R-York County, who has been representing most of Cumberland up till now, is seeing his 31st District seat drift further south into York County, though he will still have a part of Cumberland’s suburban West Shore.
