is a 2022 $40-million Michael Bay action-thriller-with-lame-jokes about roughly the same thing. So how does the remake stack up against the original? And what does that $40-million get you?Stars. Jake Gyllenhaal, straight off another remake of a Danish film , plays Danny Sharp, one of the brothers. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is Will, the other brother. And Eiza Gonzalez is the medic.
Camerawork. Between the shaky footage, simple conversations filmed as though they were boxing matches, and shots that look like someone threw a drone off the top of a building – well, let’s just say that if they give out an Oscar for the MOST cinematography,Self-referentiality. Screenwriter Chris Fedak, liberally adapting the Danish original, manages to work in an extended reference to Bay’s 1996 film.
