ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — A movie adaptation of Michael Crummey’s critically acclaimed novel “Sweetland” will play in several theatres across Newfoundland and Labrador this May.
The story draws on the real-life resettlement programs launched by the province between 1954-75 as the government provided incentives for people from dwindling communities to leave their homes and relocate to denser areas.
