With the Ottawa Redblacks bogged down by a seven\u002Dgame losing streak, tempers boiled over with a fight at practice Wednesday.
Yeah, two days away from a big Friday night home game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, there was a fight. There were punches being thrown and the scrap ended in a huge pile of bodies. One of the peacemakers, linebacker Jovan Santos-Knox, got twisted around in the skirmish and was being looked at following practice. It didn’t appear to be a significant injury.
“I don’t like it,” said Dyce. “It’s no different than being in a game. The league is cracking on after-whistle stuff. You have to maintain your composure and focus on what’s really important; for us, that’s getting a win. It’d be an awful thing to see one of our players get injured in a skirmish like that. That’s what agitates me.”
“Whenever you get out here, it’s a bunch of guys who are working and trying to get better. Things can get chippy,” said quarterback Dustin Crum, who was a bystander. “Honestly, I don’t really know what happened. I just turned around and it was already going.”
