Canada was drawn into Group F, along with Belgium, Croatia and Morocco.

General consensus believes Canada is going to need at least four points to get out of its group, which would require a victory and a draw.

They will face Canada in its second game of the tournament after opening against Morocco on Wednesday at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, just north of here. Had England not stopped playing after going up a goal, instead of sitting back, trying to defend the one-goal lead, things might have been different for them that night.

With Belgium and Morocco also in the group, Croatia will be favoured to at least get out of it this time around. However, a meeting against Spain or Germany could be on the cards in the Round of 16, which could put a quick end to their tournament. The reason Croatia has so many prominent players well into their 30s is because there is not a lot coming up to challenge for their spots.

Four years ago, Belgium looked poised to make it to the World Cup final, but the draw was against them, forced to go through Brazil and then France. Expectations were high for Belgium at the 2020 Euros, but we were defeated by Italy in the quarter-final, who went on to win the tournament. Much like Croatia, however, Belgium does not have a load of young talent coming up to push the veterans. Jeremy Doku of Rennes in France is a promising striker, with two goals in 10 games for the national team, and they have a pair of 21-year-old midfielders in Charles De Ketelaere and Amadou Onana, who are still getting their feet wet at the international level.

They narrowly lost 1-0 to West Germany in the Round of 16, and have never returned to the knockout stages of the tournament.
