The expectations for Germany are always the highest – to be world champions.
They have some older players that are household names in the world of soccer, like Thomas Muller and Manuel Neuer, but to go deep they’re going to need players like Joshua Kimmich and Serge Gnabry to be the main men. It’s unclear how elite Germany is, but it is certainly better than the Japanese, who are hard-working and do boast some speed, but don’t have a top-class forward who can get them goals consistently.
