NORTH SYDNEY — A field of six open pacers will contest the $5,000 Governors Cup final on Saturday after the second leg of the series was contested last Saturday at Northside Downs.

The second division went to A Better Man and Gerard Kennedy, who sat patiently behind early leader Kiss Me I'm Irish until the head of the stretch before prevailing by a length for his sixth win on the season for owner Joseph Lewis. Eascoast Invader rallied from sixth to finish third, followed by Southwind Ricardo, Mando Fun and Betterthanbutter.

Ardon Mofford led all drivers on the 10-race card with a driving triple. Longshot The Captain Jack opened the afternoon by scoring a 2:02.4 win at 50-1 over Bet On Art and Ty Im A Cougar. Paul and Jack MacDonald are the winning owners. Finer Things gave Mofford his second win, as the pacer won in 2:00 for the Wouldn't Say No Stable. Finer Things finished a length ahead of Sweet City Girl with Whosyourfather third.
