And Weiler said in total, this and other projects approved over the past couple of years “are absolutely game-changers for communities.” Digital divides still remain though, particularly for rural residents just outside connected communities, said Clearwater Mayor Merlin Blackwell. Clearwater, a town of 2,400 people, serves a rural population of 1,200 and Blackwell guessed that about a third of those residents “have no or basically dial-up-rate internet using cellphones,” even in 2022.Article content
