On Tuesday, the federal government and Saskatoon Mayor Charlie Clark announced that $6.7 million will be directed to Saskatoon as part of the Rapid Housing Initiative. The announcement follows the successful completion of two projects in the previous round of the RHI, Clark noted., which are managed by two local Indigenous housing authorities. A quarter of the units have been designated to house woman and children. The Central Urban Metis Federation Inc. project, constructed on 19th Street West, has 14 units containing 58 bedrooms. All units were occupied by the end of last year.
