Federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh will be in Nanaimo on Monday to reveal the party’s plan to reduce grocery costs.

The price of groceries grew 8.5 per cent in July compared with last year, down from 9.1 per cent year-over-year gain in June, according to Statistics Canada. On a month-over-month basis, grocery prices rose slower than overall inflation in July.Following the announcement, Singh and Barron will visit the Nanaimo Harbour City Seniors, the Kw’umut Lelum Wellness Centre and will end the day at the Nanaimo-Ladysmith NDP nomination meeting.Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was in B.C.
