A judge refuses Trump's request to block Jan. 6 records including call logs, drafts of remarks and speeches and handwritten notes from Trump’s then-chief of staff, Mark Meadows, according to a court filing by the National Archives.
WASHINGTON — A federal judge on Tuesday rejected former President Donald Trump's request to block the release of documents to the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
Trump “does not acknowledge the deference owed” to Biden's judgment as the current president, Chutkan said. However, she added, “Presidents are not kings, and Plaintiff is not President.” The House committee was formed to investigate the circumstances behind the deadly insurrection in which supporters of the former president sought to overturn his loss in the 2020 election. Trump has repeatedly attacked the committee's work and continued to promote unfounded conspiracy theories about the election.

House Jan. 6 panel subpoenas 10 more former Trump aidesHouse investigators have issued subpoenas to 10 more former officials who worked for Donald Trump at the end of his presidency, an effort to find out more about what the president was doing and saying as his supporters violently stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 in a bid to overturn his defeat. Bennie Thompson, the Democratic chairman of the panel.
