As for carbon capturing and storage, a measure widely expected by the oil and gas industry, the federal government is allocating $2.6 billion over five years, and $1.5 billion annually until 2030. After saying that the federal government had spent money “chiefly and wisely” in the past two years to support Canadians during the pandemic, she added that that approach was ending. “But our ability to spend is not infinite. Both the Conservatives and the Bloc have confirmed they will not be voting in favour of the budget. The NDP has already confirmed it will, because of its supply and confidence agreement that is set to last until 2025.
