FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn will self-quarantine for 14 days after exposure to White House spokesperson Katie Miller, who tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday
The White House is conducting contact tracing and making a case-by-case determination on who else should self-isolate based on exposure to Miller. The officials said that Hahn is expected to continue his normal role of leading FDA while in self-quarantine.
Several health officials told POLITICO that Friday's developments are a reminder that the nation's coronavirus pandemic is still raging and is poised to affect the highest levels of government. "In the span of hours, the coronavirus task force was likely exposed, the vice president was definitely exposed, and a top health official can't come into the office," one senior administration official said. "It's a textbook case of why we can't rush to re-open."
