A man has died after being stabbed during a fight in Calgary's East Village. Calgary police say the suspect fled and remain at large, while investigators have released images of a man and woman they believe may be connected to the killing.
A man is dead after being stabbed in Calgary’s East Village on Friday night, police say. The incident happened in the 500 block of Seventh Avenue S.E. around 7 p.m. Police believe two men who were known to each other got in a fight, at which point one man stabbed the other one.
“Officers located one man suffering from significant injuries. He was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries,” police said in a release. Police say the suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
After reviewing security footage, police released a photo of a man and woman they believe are connected to the incident.
“This was a brazen act of violence that claimed a person’s life,” said Staff Sgt. Mark Rahn of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit, in a media release.
“We are working to determine exactly what happened and are asking anyone with information to come forward. ” An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday. Anyone with information can contact police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
