A man fatally shot June 24 in East Oakland has been identified by police.
OAKLAND — A 31-year-old man fatally shot June 24 in East Oakland has been identified by police as Ebon Burton.
Burton, who authorities said was unhoused, was shot about 10:55 p.m. June 24 in a parking lot at a small commercial strip mall in the 6200 block of International Boulevard. He died at the scene.Burton was a familiar face in the area and his violent death was disturbing to those who knew him. Police were told he was a loner who kept to himself, but was never a problem to others. People would occasionally give him food, authorities said.
