Learn just how fashion changed with the introduction of gas lights at the new “Fashion After Dark” exhibit at WRHS Cleveland History Center.

CLEVELAND, OH – When gas light replaced liquid fuel light in the mid-1800s, fashion changed. Colors, fabrics, and embellishments looked different under the then-modern lighting., 10825 East Blvd., Cleveland. A collection of vintage clothing will be on display through June 30, 2024.
“I’m excited about the sequined dresses. They made sequins from gelatin if you can believe it,” and all the sparkle. I also had a lot of fun making faux wine and Jell-O props for the scenes. And we’re outfitting the service spaces too so people can get a sense of life for different types of people.”
