Organizers say event is about changing the narrative surrounding the downtown community, which houses the team's digs, but also much more
A grin on his face and a beer in his hand, Mike Stein of San Carlos surveyed the three-block section of J Street in front of Petco Park Saturday afternoon as Final Four and Padres games approached.
Few seemed to feel much like talking, but many were in the mood to dance, moving along with the event’s center-stage performers. Fans young and old were decked out in Padres gear — even some dogs donned jerseys. Claudine Scott, a realtor who helped create the block party, said the idea is to show everyone that there is plenty to do in the neighborhoods that surround the Padres’ home digs.
