More than 3 1/2 years after Nichol Olsen and her 2 daughters were killed, their deaths remain unsolved.
Charles Edward Wheeler, now 35 and living in Austin, came under scrutiny after his girlfriend, Nichol Leila Olsen, 37, and her two daughters, Alexa Montez and London Bribiescas, were found shot to death in his home in the Anaqua Springs Ranch subdivision in Bexar County in early 2019. Sheriff Javier Salazar quickly named Wheeler a “person of interest” but not a suspect in the case.
More than 3½ years after the deaths, Salazar hasn’t made public any conclusions or findings from his agency’s investigation. “We’re confident … that there will never be evidence to suggest anything other than Nichol took the lives of her daughters before taking her own life,” Huntzinger said. “You just can’t create evidence and facts that don’t exist to suggest that this was anything other than the tragedy that it is. And the Texas Rangers can’t find evidence where there is none.
She accused Salazar of claiming that his office’s work on the case was complete and saying that the FBI, whose assistance the sheriff sought early on, was delaying the close of the investigation. But Sumners wrote that she later contacted the FBI herself and was told that the federal agency’s remaining role in the case was minor “and was in no way holding up the investigation with the sheriff’s office.
